Title

The Bionova BT224 is an ultra-rapid, self-contained biological indicator designed to monitor steam sterilisation processes. Each vial contains a population of 10⁶ Geobacillus stearothermophilus (ATCC® 7953) spores, providing a biological challenge for evaluating sterilisation cycle performance.

The indicator provides a rapid readout in 20 minutes, supporting faster assessment of processed loads. It is suitable for use in dental, healthcare and pharmaceutical sterilisation environments.

An optional visual pH colour confirmation may be performed after 48 hours of incubation at 60°C. Following a successful sterilisation process, the culture medium will remain purple. If viable spores are present, indicating an unsuccessful process, the medium will initially change to a greenish colour and then to yellow.

Instructions for Use

Interpretation

Successful Process: The culture medium remains purple.

Unsuccessful Process: The culture medium changes to a greenish colour and then yellow, indicating the presence of viable spores.

A seven-day visual readout is optional and is intended for initial validation of the 20-minute fluorescence result rather than routine use. Always follow the product instructions for use and the sterilisation cycles applicable in your country.
