The Bionova BT96 is a super-rapid, self-contained biological indicator designed to monitor plasma and vaporised hydrogen peroxide sterilisation processes.

Each indicator contains 10⁶ Geobacillus stearothermophilus (ATCC® 7953) spores per carrier and provides a final fluorescence readout in just 30 minutes, supporting timely assessment of sterilisation cycle performance.

Suitable for healthcare environments, the BT96 also allows an optional visual pH colour confirmation after 48 hours of incubation at 60°C.

Result Interpretation

Successful Process: The culture medium remains purple after incubation.

Unsuccessful Process: The culture medium changes to yellow, indicating the presence of viable spores.

A seven-day visual readout is optional and is intended for initial validation of the 30-minute fluorescence result rather than routine use. A humidified environment is required if the seven-day readout is performed to prevent the culture medium from drying out.
